Breaston May Day Gala

Breaston May Day Gala This was another fantastic opportunity to go out and meet my supporters and also to talk to the undecided constituents. The 'May Day Gala' is an amazing local event which draws the local community together, I enjoyed meeting different people and also getting the chance to do bell ringing. I enjoy small community events like these where the whole community come together and this could all be introduced in my 'Love Erewash Campaign' which is all about bringing the hearts back to our communities.

On the Radio

On the Radio Erewash Sound (96.8fm) is a local radio station for Erewash, they do amazing work in keeping the local community informed in what is happening in the borough. The last few Saturdays I’ve been on the 'Erewash and Beyond' show with presenter Emma Layton. I would like to thank listeners for tuning in and the radio station for all their support.

Support

Support Being an independent is always hard, and sometimes it can feel like you're on your own. I would just like to thank all the hard working people who help do the everyday things to support my campaign. I would like to thank the volunteers who come out door knocking and also the people who put up posters in their windows.

The banners are up!

The banners are up The Printer had done an amazing job and we have 3 amazing banners. Banners have gone up in Breaston, Long Eaton (Main Street) and Long Eaton (Nottingham Road). Unfortunate due to costs I couldn't print more and due to technical reasons the banner on Derby Road had to be removed. I would like to thank everyone who donated and look out for the banners.

Local Issues for Local People

Local Issues for Local People I like to take pride in the fact that people can add to my manifesto, many people have many problems which as MP I would like to help and find solutions. This week's main door to door problems on the streets have been...

  • Bridge Street's parking/lorry Issues which I want to see resolved.
  • Lower Brooke Street's parking issues.
  • I am supporting the group "Friends of Toton Fields" as the people living in the Nottingham Road Area are worried about possible local plans for building.
  • Many people tell me about the dog mess problems they have on streets and you have been telling me about a group called MESS - Make Erewash Streets Safe. I looked into what the group do and the achievements they have successfully made. I want to congratulate them on the campaign and the Facebook page they have.
  • Many residents all over Ilkeston have told me about safety issues within their communities and their own homes. You told me about the Anti-social behaviour in your areas and about nuisance neighbours. I want to assure you as a MP I would do everything in my power to make our community a safe cohesive place to live.

If anyone else has issues you want to add to this list or concerns about your community then please email me and I'll visit you and add it to the list.

Collected 50,000 leaflets!

Vote for Luke Wilkins I would like to thank everyone for their donations and support and as a result of this I collected 50,000 leaflets from the printer this week. I'm going to visit Royal Mail where they will distribute the leaflets to each house in the constituency. The leaflet is a success and key information can be found within it. It's a shame we couldn't have had this done earlier but time was short. If you haven't seen the leaflet please find it on this website.

Visit to the Erewash school- Wilsthorpe

Luke Wilkins visits Wilsthorpe I went to visit Wilsthorpe today, this was the school I attended for 5 years, which are proud of the steps I'm taking. I visited the school to keep them updated about my campaign and also to speak to the head teacher, Jonathan Croft. I had an interesting chat about Ofsted (The official school regulators). We discussed about the fact that when I get into office, I can help reform Ofsted and how they review schools. Wilsthorpe do such a great job within Long Eaton and serve the public with a high standard of education.

Support Campaign meeting

Luke Wilkins and Adrian Tonight I had a support meeting where my friends and supporters were invited to come along, receive updates to the campaign and find out what is going to happen in the near future and how people can get involved. This meeting went well and I got some good support. My support group on Facebook was a good attribute to this meeting for informing people last minute of the meeting. There was a good turnout and I would like to thank people that travelled from afar.
