Why an Independent?
As an independent, I am free to decide what I believe is right and what will serve my constituents and the country at large. I'm not tied down by any big political party and I take pride in the fact that you can add to my manifesto.
What does Luke Wilkins stand for?
I stand for my constituency, I'm not a big political party and not many people will know my policies, please look around on the website to see my views and contact me if you want anything adding.
You may look at my views and think that some of them lean towards Labour territory and some policies lean towards Lib Dems. Are you confused?.....Don't Be! I have the luxury of being able to think about what is right for Erewash under the current circumstances without political principles. When I say I believe in something you know that I am not just saying it to tow the party line and you know the same thought processes that came up with my manifesto will be used when I am representing my constituents in parliament and in local affairs.
Is voting for an independent a wasted vote? In the Erewash constituency Labour have such a huge lead you are hardly going to let in the Lib Dems or Conservative by voting for me. So be bold and let's see how many people are looking for an alternative to the party political system.
Independent for change: The main parties will never vote for electoral or constitutional reform. When they get in power their only interest is to maintain power. Just 10 or 20 independents in parliament can make a huge difference....especially in a hung parliament.
There will be far more independent candidates in this year's upcoming parliament than we have had for the last 2 centuries. It will be so exciting to see if they can make an impact. Just go out and vote for Luke Wilkins Independent on May 6th 2010.
